Sente to Host Community Dialogue on Clean Energy

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is hosting an Environmental Citizens’ Advisory Committee meeting to discuss efforts to protect and preserve our natural resources on Monday, Nov. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Laschen Community Center, located at 294 Evergreen Drive in Vernon Hills.

“As vice-chair of the House Environment Committee, advocating for legislation that encourages environmental stewardship is among my top priorities,” Sente said. “My Environmental Citizens’ Advisory Committee meetings are some of my favorite and most well-attended outreach events, as they allow us to come together as a community to share ideas, discuss sustainability initiatives and explore statewide environmental policy proposals.”

Sente and experts from the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition will meet with residents to discuss Illinois’ renewable energy portfolio, as well as provide other environmental updates from the state Capitol. Among the topics to be discussed are House Bill 2607, sponsored by Sente and a top priority for the environmental community, which calls for increased use of energy efficiency standards, as well as updates to the state’s renewable energy portfolio. It is estimated that, if adopted, these new standards could create as many as 32,000 new jobs across Illinois once they are fully implemented.

This event is free and open to all area residents who are interested in discussing issues concerning the environment. For more information or to reserve a seat, please contact Sente’s constituent service office at 847-478-9909 or email
