Sente Encourages Local Students to Apply for Legislative Internship Program

09/25/2015

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is offering local students an opportunity to get a first-hand look at the legislative process and earn professional experience as an intern in her district office. Applications are now being accepted.

"This internship is a unique way for students to transfer their skills from the classroom and into the community," Sente said. "The time commitment and hours are very flexible, which makes this the perfect opportunity for students looking to gain experience while attending school or during holiday breaks."

Interns will assist Sente and her legislative team with community outreach efforts, district research, event planning and data management. In addition, students will have the opportunity to attend meetings with Sente and assist with constituent service in order to develop a detailed understanding of the operations of a full-time constituent service office.

"Serving as a strong voice for young people and helping to engage them in their communities is very important to me," Sente said. "During a time when political apathy it is at an all-time high, it is important that we show our future leaders that they as individuals have the power to make a difference."

Interested students may apply online at http://bit.ly/SenteInternship (case sensitive). For more information, please contact Sente's full-time constituent service office at 847-478-9909 or email RepSente@gmail.com.
