Sente, Nekritz Event Empowers Residents to Appeal Property Tax Assessments

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, partnered with State Rep. Elaine Nekritz, D-Northbrook, and the Cook County Assessor’s Office to help Wheeling Township residents appeal their property tax assessments with a free Property Tax Appeal Workshop on Tuesday.

“The large number of residents in attendance at our event indicates that families are in need of substantial relief from skyrocketing property taxes,” Sente said. “In Springfield, I continue to fight to protect homeowners’ hard-earned savings through legislative efforts to create a statewide property tax freeze which would prevent units of local government from raising taxes without voter approval.”

Staff from the Cook County Assessor’s Office was available at the event to explain the residential property assessment and appeal process, as well as to provide attendees with one-on-one assistance with their individual appeals. The last day for residents of Wheeling Township to file their appeals is August 14.
