Sente, Residents Emphasize Importance of Healthy Communities at Advisory Meeting

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, met with her Health Care Citizens’ Advisory Committee to provide a legislative update and brainstorm ideas to help local residents get access to quality care.

“Our dialogue offered the unique opportunity to learn about health care from the perspective of patients, doctors, nurses and hospitals, as well as to learn more about the community health issues they would like to see addressed, such as prescription drug take back initiatives and stronger funding for mental health services,” Sente said. “With this year's budget pressures, our group spent time discussing ideas to help safeguard Medicaid funds and defend against fraud, so that more money would be available for Illinoisans who truly need help. I look forward to bringing the issue to the forefront of the discussion down in Springfield.”

Among those in attendance at Sente’s Health Care Citizens’ Advisory Committee were local residents and health care professionals from a variety of organizations and advocacy groups, including Advocate Condell Medical Center, the Illinois Nurses Association, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Lake County Medical Society.
