Sente Alerts Families about Deceptive Mailer from Outside Special Interest Group

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is warning residents about a fraudulent political mailer sent out by a right-wing special interest group, encouraging them to contact her through a third-party phone number not connected with her office, which may be used to collect residents' personal information with malicious intent.

“These attempts to misguide residents about my record and distract them from the real issues through the use of deceptive practices are very disturbing,” Sente said. “Any efforts by special interest groups to lie to the people I represent suggest they have ulterior motives and are not focused on ushering in real reforms that protect taxpayers.”

The deceptive mail piece is paid for by an outside group which is supported by multi-millionaire politicians and special interests with strong records of advocating for across-the-board cuts to education, health care and programs for seniors. The mailer encourages people to call Sente at a phone number not associated with her office, which Sente warned could be used to catalog the identities and contact information of callers in order to push a dangerous political agenda.

The postcard misrepresents Sente's voting record and independent stance with misleading information about Sente’s efforts to freeze property taxes, pass responsible pension reform and create a more business-friendly Illinois in an effort to encourage economic development. This spring alone, Sente has repeatedly stood with taxpayers by demanding greater fiscal responsibility through property tax relief, reforms and pro-business initiatives designed to attract, retain and grow businesses in Illinois.

“My record of fighting for local taxpayers and ensuring their voice is heard is very important to me,” Sente said. “It is my hope that families who want to know more about what I am doing to freeze property taxes, safeguard essential services and create jobs will contact my full-time constituent service office directly or interact with me when I am walking door-to-door, hosting outreach events or attending meetings throughout the community.”

Sente encourages constituents to contact her full-time constituent service office with any questions or concerns regarding a state issue at 847-478-9909 or by email at
