Sente Listens to Concerns of Older Adults on Senior Listening Tour

VERNON HILLS, Ill. – In order to stay connected with the residents of local retirement communities, State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, has launched a Senior Listening Tour with stops scheduled at senior living facilities throughout her district.

“My regular visits help me serve as a strong advocate for the legislative priorities and concerns of Illinois seniors,” Sente said. “As budget negotiations continue, many of our discussions focus on the longevity of critical services that help members of the state’s aging population living on fixed incomes make ends meet, such as Medicaid, the Community Care Program and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).”

In addition to visiting Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes in Vernon Hills on Monday, Sente visited the Sedgebrook Retirement Community in Lincolnshire last month. In the weeks ahead, Sente is planning stops at the Victory Centre and Brookdale Plaza facilities located in Vernon Hills to provide residents with an update on the Legislature’s spring session and to gather feedback on pending legislative issues.

Sente’s Senior Listening Tour visits provide constituents with an opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns on state issues one-on-one in a comfortable setting.
