Sente and Local Park Districts Celebrate Recreation at State Capitol

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, joined local park districts to celebrate the important role park, recreation and conservation agencies play in the community this week at the Capitol.

“As a former park board member, ensuring that residents of all ages have access to quality parks and open space is very important to me,” Sente said. “Illinois leads the nation in recreation facilities and programs, so it was fun to learn more about the innovative approaches being implemented across our state.”

Parks Day at the Capitol is an annual event coordinated by the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD). Nearly 400 representatives from Illinois park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies attended IAPD’s event to share their message. Among those in attendance from Sente’s district were Buffalo Grove, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Waukegan and Wheeling Park Districts.
